True Knowledge

One of the marks of the end times is the increase of knowledge. Western Nations are loaded with so-called knowledge. We have technical knowledge, political knowledge, social knowledge, philosophical knowledge and religious knowledge, and of course medical—scientific knowledge.

We do seem to be lacking in other forms of knowledge. The most glaring is moral knowledge. Then of course there is civil knowledge, the ability to treat each other as we would like to be treated. At the root of these failures is the lack of spiritual knowledge. At the core and cause of that is the severe, even deadly, lack of the knowledge of the Holy One.

This brings us to our verse:

Proverbs 1:7 “The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge: but fools despise wisdom and instruction.”

Later in Proverbs, Solomon declared it as wisdom (the application of true knowledge). As societies reject the knowledge of the one and only true God in Jesus Christ, they loose all fear or reverence for God. As a result they plunder into self worship and pleasures falling ever downward into emptiness (vanity).

When this happens not only does God reject them to wallow in their own makings but allows their self destruction. Hence they teach our children sterile knowledge without God. Regarding the subject, that idea is true in every discipline whether it’s Social Studies, Sciences, Math, Humanities or Arts. Is it any wonder why we in America produce more prisoners, murderers, gangs, gang shootings and whole ignorance of the true facts.

For this reason Christians, our homes or wherever we educate our children, or whatever we expose ourselves to needs to be radically different. We need to always pursue the “knowledge of the Holy,” the “fear of the Lord.” This is the only source of true knowledge.
