The Next Thing

Thessalonians 4:16-18 For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord. Wherefore comfort one another with these words.

There is so much going on in America and the world today, it is hard to ignore. In fact, it would be easy to choose any topic but I think that would miss the whole central point or focus.

As I write this article I am amazed, but not shocked, at how rapidly the world and American trends are changing and challenging our notions. Large cities are aflame with riots prompted by fascistic Marxist Left-wing ideologues, and feckless political leaders. These leaders are hoping to appease a constituency for their re-election. Honest protests for a right cause have been co-opted. National news medias, to support their own agenda, do not report facts and contradict their narrative. This in essence leads to a non–free press as far as the populous is concerned.

Add to this the covid-19 pandemic and confusion; the decimation to our economy and the World’s. People are clamoring for a New Economics, New Leadership, and a way of life where the “government” will take care of them. This does not even approach the subject of world-wide persecution of Christians as the West sits silent (especially the Left). Not to mention the coming clash in America between Evangelical Christians taking a stand and Governmental leaders and bureaucrats.

Now the true believers in Christ alone has a clear two choices— either we get angry, frustrated, disgusted, grumble and protest— or something radically different. It is this preacher’s opinion that it would take two generations to effect change, let alone revival in a believer. The world, with America included, has chosen its future— where true Biblical Christianity is not a part of its world. We’ll be tolerated if we stay out of its way. If not, then persecuted.

What, then are we to do? Shall we wring our hands in despair and fear? Here’s the other or—We will do what the Lord God, Jesus said “… look up, and lift up your heads; for your redemption draweth nigh.” Luke 21:28. We will “…always abounding in the work of the Lord, …” 1 Corinthians 15:58. We must do our soul winning or ministering until Jesus calls us or raptures us. You will increasingly be mocked, feared, ostracized. So Hallelujah! He counts us worthy in a world unworthy of us. (Hebrews 11:38)
